1 – YOUR BUSINESS TIP

Too many things still to do as you reach the end of the week?  When this happens again it’s easy to feel like you’re not making progress although you know you’re busy all the time.  And the worst of it is that you know that every week, month, quarter and year that goes by seems to pass faster and faster.

Sometimes it can feel like you’re on a runaway train and your dreams of catching up seem to get further and further away.

Sound familiar?

We can all be busy being busy but today I want to help you get control of some of the ‘time stealers’.

And I’ve got 2 simple tips to put you back in the driving seat so you can win some time back and free up some headspace.

SOLUTION:

First – identify your time stealers . . . I’ll share a couple of big ones I hear a lot about . . . they might sound familiar.

  1. If you want to save time, feel organised and in control – and feel safe online –  the first thing I’d recommend is getting yourself a password manager.  Or if you’ve got one – really improve how you use it.

We use – and recommend Dashlane for the simple reason we have been using it for years and it’s safe and reliable.  There are different versions of it – we use the Premium version because it synchronises changes across all our devices instantly.

RESULT:  no more scrabbling around trying to remember passwords, we log in quickly and easily, we store key numbers (company number, VAT number, phone numbers, passport & insurance numbers) AND hundreds of passwords.

It also gives you a health check on your passwords to keep you safe.  In these days of cyber crime and hacking it’s a huge reassurance – for you and your clients.

We’re not affiliated and are not rewarded for recommending this.  We do it because we only recommend what we know works.

A recent convert started using it after we’d recommended it multiple times and said “I can’t believe how easy it is to use.  And it quickly remembers each site I go into and saves it for me.  I’m getting all my passwords in – then I’ll check and see how I can make them more secure.  This is great!”
  2. Another common problem is people working too much on the ‘demand’ issues and not making time to work ON their business.  “I just don’t have time” is the mantra here.

Tip:  Start CLAIMING TIME FOR YOU.  It’s that simple.  Get your calendar and book in an appointment with yourself – but treat that as if it’s time with your best client or prospect.

RESULT:  You can tell the time stealers that you’re busy and it’s the truth.  You can even tell them you’re busy on an appointment with your top client.  Guilt free.  And you’ve just claimed time to do something to move your business or a key project or goal FORWARD.

This is an absolute gem and the advice was given to me by Peter Thomson (over 20 years ago) and it’s been invaluable.

Being able to say ‘sorry I can’t do then but I can do … or …’ – completely guilt-free AND claiming time to work on my projects = peace, joy and mental freedom.  And time to get stuff done.  And it’s fun.  So much fun I share it all the time, and credit Peter who started that ball rolling for me.

You never forget the nuggets that work eh?

So once you’ve identified the time stealers – you’ve now got a couple of ways to claim time back for you . . . simple.

And you can start in the next 5 minutes!

2 – YOUR MARKETING/LINKEDIN TIP

One of the things you learn when you start taking content seriously is this:

To create more content, you need to consume a lot of content.

Basically, the only way to have more outputs is to have more inputs.

And I have found this to be 100% true.

Because consuming other people’s ideas & thoughts will inspire you for your own content.

The easiest way to do so is by actually talking about the stuff you’re consuming.

Like Benjamin did on this post right here:

(Click on the image to see the full post)

You see, all Benjamin is doing here is talk about stoicism ideas he read in a book that someone else wrote.

He’s simply acting as the curator and messenger for his own audience.

Does this make his post less valuable?

No. Because the ideas themselves are still interesting to his audience.

And you could do the same.

What’s one book that you’ve recently read that your audience is interested in?

Or, maybe, a podcast.

Or, maybe, a YouTube video.

You get the point.

But the main thing is that this is easy content to create.

And you could easily write a LinkedIn post today using this exact strategy.

Solution:

EG:  One of our most difficult things when it comes to posting regularly on LinkedIn is coming up with consistent ideas for content and what content works best for your business.

We’ve created a 32-page E-Book full of our collective knowledge on LinkedIn. What works best and what strategies will get you more leads from LinkedIn.
